Seasons of Betrayal, Book 2
Summary
Blood always leaves the brightest stains where the snow falls.
Fresh out of lockup, Kazimir Markovic is focused on two things only—having Violet Gallucci back at his side, and putting his father in the ground. With his plans already in motion the very second he’s free, Kaz goes after what’s most important. Violet first. Vasily second.
The Russians are out for blood.
The Italians want their blood back.
It’s only a matter of time before someone comes for Kaz and Violet—hiding was never in their plans. And they’ve been waiting for this …
The game they’re playing is dangerous.
Someone always has to lose.
My Take
So I can honestly say that when I started this, I couldn’t remember what happened in the first book and I refused to go back and read it again. Thankfully, I didn’t have to. This continuation gave enough of the background story without making it redundant while still allowing readers that remembered to still be able to move forward. Alberto and Vasily are still evil. In this book, Violet and Kaz decide they’re going to be together no matter what they’re parents want. It starts with Kaz being in jail and Violet being on lock down by her father. When Kaz is released, he gets his woman and they go into hiding, while Kaz gets settled and obtains the information he need to get rid of his father. Things get pretty intense, especially the end, Kaz is in trouble big time. I have no idea how this is going to play out.
The Boykov brothers are introduced and I think I’m going to enjoy getting to know more about Konstatin.
What I liked
I love the writing. I want to read all of London Miller and Bethany-Kris’ books. I love the ideas they come up with and how the suspense is kept up. I’m going in aware there is going to be a cliffhanger at the end and am still left anticipating the next installment.
I like Kazimir, he has balls. He has a goal and he’s doing what he needs to do to execute it. I think before he met Violet, he was just going through the motions and now he has something to lose so the stakes are higher for him. I think typically I wouldn’t like Violet but given her upbringing, it’s easy to think of her as meek but she’s far from it. She’s had her eyes opened and now she’s trying to stand on her own. It is a bit difficult for her with Kaz being the alpha he is but I think she’s holding her own pretty well.
What I did not like
Nothing, I’m waiting on the next book.
